Chocolate Chip Scones
It’s time to pour yourself a cup of tea and make these flaky chocolate chips scones. Scones are the perfect blend between a cookie and a biscuit. Sweet but not too sweet with a little sugar sprinkled on top.
Why You Should Make These Scones:
- they are the perfect sweet treat to go with your coffee or tea
- they are quick to make – seriously only takes about half an hour to make them
- they are the perfect recipe for a beginning baker, easy and not too complicated with a fabulous reward
Equipment needed to bake the scones:
- a stand mixer or just a bowl with a pastry cutter
- a dough scraper – I like this one
- cookie sheets
Ingredients needed to bake these scones:
- all-purpose flour
- white sugar
- baking powder
- salt
- salted butter
- milk or heavy cream
- vanilla extract
- mini chocolate chips
- heavy cream for brushing on tops of the scones
- sugar for sprinkling on tops of the scones
Directions for making the scones:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In your mixer combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut the cold butter into smaller pieces and add to the dry mixture. Mix together until the butter is broken into small little pieces. It will take time so just be patient and it will break down!
- Mix in milk and vanilla extract until moistened. Add chocolate chips and mix till combined.
- Turn out the dough onto a floured surface. Divide dough in half and by hand form both sections into circles. You want the dough about an inch thick. Then cut each circle into 8 pieces like a pie with a dough scraper, sharp knife, or pizza cutter.
- Place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Brush tops with cream and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake in preheated oven for 17 minutes or until golden brown.
Yield: 16 delicious scones

Happy Baking!
