Cookie Recipe Below ⬇️
These delicious cookies have that classic chocolate chip taste coupled with an awesome texture and slight sourdough flavor. My whole family enjoys them!
Mix up the dough and put it in the fridge and then bake a couple cookies anytime your sweet tooth calls. You can leave the dough in the fridge for up to three days. Or freeze it in individual cookie servings for longer.
Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter (one stick)
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup sourdough starter
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Directions:
In a mixer, cream the brown sugar and butter together. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix. Next add the salt, baking soda, sourdough starter, and slowly add the flour. Mix on medium speed for a minute or two. Add the chocolate chips and mix just till combined.
Bake right away or let it ferment in the fridge for a couple hours or overnight.
Drop by spoonful on cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12 minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom.
Yield: 3 dozen cookies

Comment “Dough” for the bread recipe that my momma taught me when I was just a girl. I still make it every week for my family. My kids call her Mamaw so it’s Mamaw’s Homemade Bread. So simple to make, no fancy nothing, just the basic ingredients, but oh so soft and yummy! 🍞
In the video here I am shaping the loaves and then letting them rise before popping them into the oven to bake. I know the way I spank the dough is humorous but that is how I’ve always done it and it works great to help get the air bubbles out of the dough. 🤣
The goal of this whole process is to shape smooth loaves and get the air bubbles out of the dough so my bread doesn’t bake with big holes in it that lets the butter and jam fall through onto our hands when we’re eating and makes us all sticky. 😄

Feeding my sourdough starter after using it to make some sourdough chocolate chip cookies. I keep my starter on my counter, a counter that is currently piled high with dirty dishes. 😆
I feed my starter with 1 cup flour and 3/4 cup lukewarm water. I aim to use and feed it or just feed it (you can discard or you can keep it if you’re trying to build up your starter for a recipe) once every 24 hour period. If I know I’m not going to use it for a couple days or week, I’ll put it in the fridge. I pull it out and feed it the night before I’m wanting to use it again.

In the video I am punching down the dough and dividing the dough between the bread pans. You can eyeball the loaves but often I will weigh it out. I aim for 1.7 pounds or so of dough per pan.
Our family of ten eats a lot of bread and I save a lot of money making our own and also you just can’t beat the health benefits of homemade bread versus the highly processed store bought bread.
