Rachel’s Homestyle Chili

A hearty chili full of ground beef and beans and sure to become a family favorite.

- 2 lb. ground beef
- 2 16 oz. cans mild chili beans
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 can 14.5 oz. diced tomatoes
- 1 can 6 oz. tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- 2 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper optional
- 1 tsp. sugar
- additional salt and seasonings as preferred
In a skillet cook beef and onion until brown. Season the meat with additional salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chili powder while it's cooking. Drain excess grease.
Transfer meat to a pot and stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and let simmer for about 30 minutes.
Serve with cornbread, shredded cheese, and sour cream.
